I am patiently awaiting the birth of my first grand child. My daughter, Kristen and son-in-law, Richard are in the last few weeks of this exciting time in their lives. We have enjoyed the process of watching the baby take over Kristen’s body but soon the baby will need space in their home.
Preparing the nursery has been so much fun. Kristen and Richard have a very clear vision of what they want for this little one’s personal space. I have appreciated that they have asked for my help consulting on design decisions. The room is not large so organization and paring down has been very important. That is not an easy task when gifts, gadgets, goodies and gear are required and coming in from so many lovely friends and family. Luckily the expecting parents stayed focused on the look and feel they wanted for their baby’s space and kept the idea of creating an artful, embracing and cozy room at the forefront through their design process. The room manages to provide all the necessities as well as offer space for gifts with special meaning, collected items and cherished books and toys. I think the result is just right for our sweet baby June bug who will soon inhabit it.
